- 原名下马岭。
在广东海南岛三亚市西24公里。
斜峙海边，乱石棋布，是古代的重要关隘。
海边巨石耸立，清雍正十一年（1733年），崖州知州程哲等题刻“天涯”、“海角”、“海阔天空”、“南天一柱”等子，故称天涯海角，从题字“天涯”至“海角”处，有一曲径可通行，潮涨时天涯海角即不能往来。
这里海天一色，蔚蓝皎洁，奇石磊磊，雪浪翻花，景色壮观。
